Anytone uv878 Manual dial
« on: January 22, 2019, 11:04:37 am »
Hello to the Anytone users,

I want to ask if anyone has found a good way to manually dial a talk group that is not in the code plug on the 878. There is a manual dial in the tg menu. I tried to use it. A push of the #1 key changes between private call or group call. When I enter the tg number, then push the ptt, it seems to go to the manually dialed tg but does not stay there. It seems to quickly revert back to whatever channel is on the display. Does anyone know how to go to a tg not in the code plug and have the radio stay on the manually dialed tg for a period of time? It seems much easier with the md 380 tools to manually do the red button dial.

Thanks for an explanation of how to do this on the Anytone 878. Apparently from what I hear it is easier on the 878 than on the 868.

I just learned that in the cps software there is a tab called digital functions under the optional settings menu. The tab which says group call hang time can be changed up to 30 min. The next tab called personal call is most likely for private calls and it can also be changed to hold for a set period of time as well. This is a welcome option as now one can directly dial a tg that may not be in the code plug.

To enter Adhoc mode.

I set my P1 programmable key to DIAL.
Then set Group Call Hang to 30 minutes on a 868/878. (If using a BTech DMR6X2, set to Indefinite).

- Press P1  (selects Private Call)
- Press '#' (changes to Group Call)
- Enter the TG desired
- Press PTT

That's it...

Changing the channel resets

I found a Fix
Changing the CPS -> Optional Settings ->Digital Function -> Change Manual Dial - Set "Group TG  Hold Time" to Indefinite.
On radio long press of  "0" button on keypad puts you into the private call screen, now long press "#" on keyboard, this puts you on the TG screen, then enter TG number. Long transmit 4-5 sec
Doing it this way, I had not lost the TG I entered the day before. To exit, just change channel with long xmit to reset listening mode of hot spot or just turn off radio.
I am using a hot spot and this procedure work well for me and my Anytone 878uv
