adding second hotspot, do I need a second DMR id
« on: May 20, 2019, 10:14:56 am »
I would imagine having both on at the same time might cause confusion on the same server.
What is the practice when adding a second hotspot.    My modem board for the second hotspot
should be in by weeks end and if I need a second DMR id do I just apply like I did for the first one?

I want to add this update which leads me to another question.
I got this info from the DMR id site

Hotspots: **** MMDVM, DV4MINI, openSPOT, DVMEGA, and all other hotspot type devices do NOT require a separate ID, use an existing ID only, do NOT request an ID for them ****
If you own more then one hotspot, use your personal ID number and add a 2 digit suffix, example: Radio ID 3020111, use 302011101, 302011102, ect.
NEVER operate multiple hotspot within range of eachother on the same frequency even with different ID's. This will create serious network issues in most cases.
Hotspots do not require repeater ID's.

If I add the "01" in my pi-star hotspot configuration id" and "02" in the second pi-star hotspot configuration,
will that automatically be recognized on TGIF, Brandmiester, etc.?
I want to do this right.

Thanks,
Ken

Thanks,
Ken

Hi N1KK

yes on multiple hotspots NEVER use same ID or Freq.
easy enough

use your 7 digit ID and add 2 digits
ie
xxxxxxx01
xxxxxxx02
xxxxxxx03

I also to keep myself straight rename Host name
configuration page
   General Configuration
       Hostname:

to match the ID suffix
xxxxxxx07

Adding the 2 extra digits,   is that accepted practice for other servers as well as TGIF?

Thanks
