Ive been using my iMac, older MacBook Pro and a newer MacBook Air all with setting up and maintaining my hotspots. I also have Parallels software on all 3 so I can run Windows if needed for programming the various radios I use. Motorola and some of the other rigs I have require Windows or even DOS to program. These can sometimes be ‘fiddly’ trying to make the software and radio talk to each other but this has occurred primarily with older non digital capable radios. A lot of my strictly amateur rigs use CHIRP which is available for multiple Operating systems including Mac OS. You can also use boot camp on an intel Mac to setup a hard drive partition where windows can hang out. I’ve had no trouble flashing the pi-star software to a micro SD for use in my hotspots.
