Did you try that on the original card or the backup one? If the former, did you remember to set the mmdvmhost setting(s) that you changed back to what they were? Or, even better/easier: Restore from a Pi-Star backup (you do those in addition to the rpi-clones, right?  )?

As far as the bugs mentioned in that post, I can assure you that the latest mmdvmhost communicates just fine with Phil's modified Gateway.  I have two hotspots both running 4.1.5 with his Gateway as proof of that.  So I'm inclined to believe that it's not your binaries but, rather, something in one of your config files to blame.
