openSPOT3 question
« on: June 16, 2021, 12:38:41 pm »
Wow, four months since the last post here. Pretty slim on activity. Hopefully someone reads this.

I have a question for anyone using an openSPOT3 with the TGIF network.

I can easily link to talkgroups with a group call to the talkgroup number. At that point, TGIF selfcare shows me as linked to the TG. However, a group call to 4000 does not unlink me. I am able to change talkgroups with a group call to the new talkgroup. But unlinking with a group call to 4000 does not work.

I would love for someone with an openSPOT3 to try and reproduce this issue. I am using TGIF selfcare to verify whether I am linked to a TG or not.

Sending 4000 on TGIF does not UNLINK as expected on BM
It merely switches you to TG4000 which has been programmed on the server to do nothing

I have an openspot3 and sending 4000 does what it is supposed to do. switches me to TG4000

Thanks for the reply. I did find the problem. The openSPOT simply doesn't play well with the TGIF server. The openSPOT will occasionally send through commands on TS1. But it's only supposed to be using TS2. Unfortunately, TGIF listens to it on TG1 sometimes... but not other times. So I can get connected to a TG on TS1 on TGIF even though I have a simplex hotspot that's only supposed to operate on TS2. The TGIF folks have elected not to fix this. They think it's a SharkRF problem... and SharkRF thinks it's a TGIF problem. In reality, it is both and either one could fix it if they were motivated to do so. But I have moved on.
