Title: Talkgroup Request for CAROLINA SKYWARN
Post by: AK4FD on August 29, 2020, 08:16:01 pm
I am requesting talkgroup #704 and have it called Carolina Skywarn.  This talkgroup would serve as the official talkgroup to report Severe Weather or discuss weather-related topics for the NC/SC areas.  Talkgroup would be maintained by David Coviello (DMR ID: 3115392), AK4FD, Emergency Coordinator for the Gaston Spotter Skywarn Group which handles Skywarn & Severe Weather for the entire Piedmont Region of NC.  We report directly to the National Weather Service.  We would be collaborating with the GSP Skywarn group down in York County, SC as well for Severe Weather interoperability.  Thank you.

No I didn't miss any posts, I read it.  I was told by Support to send my request here...  While I do have a TG that is approved already under the Prime server, that server is still in beta stages and people using this regular production server can't see or hear the TG that are on Prime.  It was suggested that I post here and request my TG to be added to this server as well and then potentially bridge the 2 together.  Being that my TG deals with severe weather and Skywarn it is important for people to be able to find us and see us listed in the TG list section.  Otherwise I can't give my TG info to people that don't know we exist.

My bad.  It was my understanding that no new talkgroups were being created on the legacy server, as referenced in this reply to someone else who had made a similar request:

Jim, There will be no more talk groups created on our old server. Will will be moving to the new server soon and you can request a talk group there
You can do this at prime.tgif.network
Thanks
Robert
Further inquires need to be sent to support@tgif.network

Obviously I am out of the loop as to what's currently going on.  Best of luck with your request.
