Post by: KM6THY on February 28, 2019, 02:06:18 pm
My hotspot shows up on my IPhone wifi page as pi-star. I open iPhone hotspot to access the www and I hear nothing on the radio. If I key up I see the TG  on my oled screen. Help I dont have much hair left.LOL

My hotspot shows up on my IPhone wifi page as pi-star.

sounds like you mean shows on wi-fi as pi-star
this means it did not connect to any internet and created its own Access Point, so you can make changes to it

may be too late for hotspot to look for iphone at this point

try in this order
1. turn on iphone "personal hotspot"
make sure the name and password is no shorter than 7 characters, no space or !@#$%^ characters

2.stay on that setting page in iphone until the hot spot connects to iphone

3.turn on hotspot

4. wait until the oled scrolls MMDVM

then you are ready

Step two and three are confusing. How can phone find hot spot “step 2” before I turn it on ?”step three”

Step 2 refers to watching the hotspot settings in the iPhone
Not the pi-star settings or dashboard

well no luck connecting to Iphone.no IP address shows up on hotspot screen. Do I need to open a new pi-star page deticated to this hot spot and config with iphone ssi ? because my hot spot connects to home wifi no problem. so it is set up for my wifi at home with wifi ss number on pistar page. I am thinking I may have to set up hotspot to iphone wifi address. I want this hotspot for truck use only I have two more hotspots for home.

new pi-star page?

to keep my sanity I re-name my hotspots in settings
ie
pi-star1
pi-star2
pi-star3

and can usually see the dashboard, if I'm on the same network as the hotspot (ie phone) using a pc not iphone!
http://pi-star2/

that way I know for sure which one I am looking at

you can set them all up for multi wifi access
and on boot up they try to connect to them one at a time from top to bottom of list

mine checks for phone first (incase I have it on to use)
then home wifi
then alternate wifi source at home in case main is out
then clubhouse wifi
work wifi
etc

this works well for me mobile or home with all my hot spots (7)

I would only do this after you are able to get your iphone working with the hotspot.

IMPORTANT
be sure all hotspots use different-
frequencies!

DMR ID numbers
ie
xxxxxxx01 to match the name pi-star1
xxxxxxx02 to match the name pi-star2
xxxxxxx03 to match the name pi-star3

i got to thank you fcor your patients and help. That hot spot will just not hook up with the iPhone. I bring it in the house and it hooks up to my house wifi. frustrating to say the least.

Then I would say its the iphone settings?

in your phone check this

open "settings"
open "personal hotspot"

where it shows the password, which should be 7 characters long or more ( no space, no special charters !@#$%^&* )

right below that it says "Too connect to phone using wifi"...
1 tells you the name of the iphones wifi signal
make sure this is also 7 characters long or more ( no special charters !@#$%^&* )

if all that looks ok
slide the switch to turn it on
STAY ON THE SETTINGS PAGE!

plug in hotspot

if it connects you will see a blue bar across the top of the screen showing the number of connections

if or once this happens you can change screens or put phone to sleep

my configure page only has frequency. no rx, tx frequency.
now the hotspot does not hook up to the house wifi which it did for months screen scrools with MMDVMM only.
interface info on configure page says   Name:wlanD.   status: interface down.  ok got interface name squared away but hot spot says at the bottom of screen address unknown

Not sure if this will help but a friend of mine had a problem with his iPhone not connecting.  We changed the order in the WiFi setting making his iPhone be the first device
and then his house WiF being the second and that solved this problem.  He can connect every time now with his iPhone.
