Title: Need Assistance Adding New Channels to Use With MD-380
Post by: w2eck on May 02, 2019, 03:20:56 pm
I am new to DMR but have used DSTAR for a few years. Have a TYT MD UV380, Rasp Pi 3, and a ZUMspot Board 2 W/1.3 OLED-2. Using Pi-Star 3.4.15. Am using v1.10 of the CPS MD UV-380 software
A local friend shared his MD 380 code plug with me. I decided to start with the TGIF network, so modified his TGIF TG channels to the freq of my Zumspot. I created a new Zone for just those TGIF channels I decided to use.
When  I connect to those talk groups (copied fm the friends coe plug) using the MD380 & the Zumspot all is fine. I see my local RF activity and the Talk Group activity on the Pi-Star Dashboard.
BUT… when I try to create my own channel for a new talk group, copying the format and entries in the channels that are working, my “new channels” do not work properly.
The first time I try to use the new channel, with Rsp Pi freshly booted up it works, and the Pi-Star dashboard shows the new channel. But….. I can’t hear anything on the radio and if I attempt to talk on the TG, it doesn’t work. It doesn’t show under Local RF Activity. I am not able to change to another talk group. If I reboot the Pi, then the new channel  works the first time.. but no again and am still not hearing anything. So I am apparently making some mistake in programming the “new” Channels. Can anyone offer some suggestions ??

Hi Paul

I’m not at home right now so I’m going by memory 😀

Even if the channels talk group is wrong
You should see rf activity on your local dashboard

If not then the channel settings are prob not right

Check the freq is the same as your hotspot
Time slot 2
Color code 1

From there you should see something on dash board

Did it work before with his codeplug on your hotspot?

The performance seems to be random. I just rebooted Hotspot and tried 31665 which I have contacted before and actually talked to someone. But now when I key the radio, nothing shows in Local RF. But the Hot eventually connects  to 31665 which I switched to the last time my RF showed up. All his channels were time slot 2, color code 1. Channels copied fm his code plug have worked, the 31665 channel is his.

Not sure if this is relevant but , when I Tx on the MD 380, I hear some rfi on my base speaker on the floor. When I tx and it works- shows up on dashboard, I don't hear any rfi ???

correction to my last. After the last reboot the Hotspot did not change to 31665, its still on 777- which is where I went to the last time the Tx worked. Dashboard shows folks fm different Talk Groups but I am not hearing a thing on the radio.

ah do you have ty tools and promiscuous mode on so you heal all TG received, else only the one you gave set to tx on.

oops you have uv380
there is still a setting
"group call match" to off is like promiscuous

Wasn't aware of Group Call Match but just turned it off and am now hearing audio on the MD 380. I assume it's fm the &&& SCAN TG. I am not famialr with Ty Tools . Is that on the MD 380??
