TG Request for the NC Outer Banks
« on: November 17, 2020, 04:41:37 pm »
I am requesting a talk group to use on the Outer Banks of NC which are 100 miles from the Va/NC state line and it runs to Ocracoke Island and has towns like Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Manteo, Corolla, Duck and Hatteras. We have a large radio group here because we act as radio back up fir the counties here during hurricanes and storms which we get way too many of. I am looking to the future to also add our TG to some local repeaters in the future if all goes well.

If I need to do this is a different way please let me know what to do.

Here is the content of the "Before Asking" forum post:

READ these guidelines  There will be no more talk groups issued on Legacy. You can use any of the tac channels in the meantime. TAC 101-109

We are getting very close to moving to the new server. in order to get a TGIF talk group you must register at prime.tgif.network type that in as URL in your address bar. once registered when you sign into your dashboard there is a link to request a talk group. No further questions will be answered here. You must use our service request email.( support@tgif.network).

I am still unclear of the approach to get a TG assigned, but I'll figure it out.  Can you explain he difference of Legacy and non-Legacy and what that means?

The legacy server is the server we're currently using (and have been using).  Its address is http://tgif.network and currently has 381 talkgroups (listed at http://tgif.network/talkgroups.php).

A new server is currently in beta development.  We refer to it as the "non-legacy" or "prime" server.  Its address is https://prime.tgif.network and currently has 258 talkgroups (listed at https://prime.tgif.network/talkgroups.php).

Once it's completed, we will be moving to the new server and the old server will be taken offline.  So, new talkgroups are no longer being added to the legacy server.  Furthermore, the prime server is "self-service" when it comes to talkgroup requests.  Once you follow the instructions and sign up for access to the prime server, you request the talkgroup right there (as opposed to requesting it here).

Hopefully that helps clarify things a bit for you (and others).
