4000 Disconnect?

This is probably one of the most asked about (or used) talk group or feature, that does not exist here on TGIF Network  ???

There is no need to disconnect from any talk group here, just key up the TG you want to go to.  ;D
the network will release you from the previous TG

Unless the operators or "quick" keying in the TG you are in.  Then you have to wait for a pause in the qso, in order to key out.

OR

use selfcare to switch talk group  ;D

or as I have had to do on BM 310... just unplug the hotspot then reboot (if you hate PCs and smart phones)  :o

I was on TG 31665 last early this morning.  Being really new, am I still connecred to this talk group after I turned my radio off? A comment above said if you go to another talk group the prior one is disconnected. What if I am done playing radio? I want to make sure I am not tying up a TG by still being connected. Sorry for a very basic question.

yes
your hot spot will continue to receive traffic from TGIF server and transmit to you or anyone within range even if no one is listening

thanks for your concern, but even if you leave the hot spot on and radio on 24/7, it wont tie up anything at TGIF.
unless you have more than one hot spot setup incorrectly to work together.

when you are finished playing radio its up to you...

-leave it connected to the TG you were last on
-change to your favorite TG for next time
-put on 777
it really don't matter

then turn off hot spot, or leave it on (I leave mine on at home, the one in the car gets turned off)

Great questions, Thanks

I really appreciate the clarifications. Makes good sense to me. If one were to change their openspot profile,  say to the Brandmeister profile and were using BM or not, then I guess the TGIF talk group would still be connected and sending audio but of course the openspot wouldn't be hearing it. You all are just too smart! Thank goodness for you and the team's knowledge and dedication to the TGIF network.

This is only reasonable if the user wants to use TGIF network EXCLUSIVELY!!!!!   If a HAM wants to use another  network he needs a method to disconnect cleanly from TGIF.  As it stands, 4000 is broken, and from what I see there is no intention of making it work.  Only solution is to use an usused TG like 9998 to key out if you don't have access to selfcare.

I came here looking for a cleaner solution but it looks like that ain't gonna happen any time soon.  Go figure!
