Thanks for the information on tg 777. I assume that if you enter contacts for the tgs you want to scan on tgif and then create channels, then create a zone for tgif with those channels, and enter these channels in a receive group, then listen on 777 one will hear all the talk groups in the receive group list and in that zone?

maybe... you will hear all the TG set to receive on the channel you are on
ie
if you are on Tac101 you would hear tac101 and Tac102 if they are in the receive group on Tac101 channel

If you use promiscuous mode, will one hear all tgs on lets say Brandmeister

yes for the static and dinamic TG you have opened or set

 or if you have a zone set up for tgif will you only hear the tgs on the tgif network?

the zone is just a group of channels for your dial to select from
the receive group is set for a channel to hear what TGs

 Is that one other way to use 777? Which of the two ways is best to use the new 777 tg promiscuous mode or programming receive groups?

I am trying to understand the difference between programming receive groups and using promiscuous mode.

promiscuous mode is better, you hear all TGs (777) opened up
the other way would let you be selective on which few you want to hear, that 777 opened all up
