talkgroup 777 for SCAN

 ;D
new feature that opens all Talk Groups on TGIF Network to listen to them all

-must have promiscuous ON or use "receive groups" in your radio for the TGs you want to hear.
hmm like selective scanning? I may convert to "receive groups" after all

-no doubling, only one transmission at a time is heard.

-no hold time, once station un-keys, the next heard active TG will be heard.

Hello to the group.

This is my first post to this forum. I just wanted to ask what is the best way to set up a receive group for the tg 777 feature to work? Does one have to put a list of the tgs one wants to hear in one receive group? If someone could walk me through the contacts, channels, and zone set up for 777 to work it would help. I now do not have a specific zone set up for tgif as yet. I am listening to tgif on  tg 9 and dial in the other tgs as I connect to them. I have the md 380 with Warren Merkel's tools in it. I have never fully understood receive groups and how they work.

Thank you for your help.

YES

If someone could walk me through the contacts, channels, and zone set up for 777 to work it would help.

If you turn off promiscuous off and don't use receive groups, you will only hear the TG you have set for the channel you set for the channel
no matter if 777 is activated... you only hear the TG for the channel
you can specify in receive groups and set in channel to use.

so, I would set

Code: [Select]
a zone for TGIF

set up contacts for (channels and receive groups) you want to use

TGIF 9
SCAN 777
TAC101 101
TAC102 102
Black Sheep Lounge 3933
North America 110
Europe 111
Asia Pacific 112
World Wide English 113
World Wide 114
Over The Road 115
etc...

then

create a receive group for the contacts you want to hear when scan 777 is activated

ie "scan tac"
with these contacts
TAC101 101
TAC102 102

Create channels
ie
TGIF 9
SCAN 777
TAC101 101 (include the receive group for scan tac)
TAC102 102 (include the receive group for scan tac)

now when you key channel SCAN 777
then change to ether tac channel, you would hear both

keying ether tac channel would take you out of scan and hear only that channel

Thanks for the information on tg 777. I assume that if you enter contacts for the tgs you want to scan on tgif and then create channels, then create a zone for tgif with those channels, and enter these channels in a receive group, then listen on 777 one will hear all the talk groups in the receive group list and in that zone?

If you use promiscuous mode, will one hear all tgs on lets say Brandmeister or if you have a zone set up for tgif will you only hear the tgs on the tgif network? Is that one other way to use 777? Which of the two ways is best to use the new 777 tg promiscuous mode or programming receive groups?

I am trying to understand the difference between programming receive groups and using promiscuous mode.

Again, thanks

maybe... you will hear all the TG set to receive on the channel you are on
ie
if you are on Tac101 you would hear tac101 and Tac102 if they are in the receive group on Tac101 channel

yes for the static and dinamic TG you have opened or set

the zone is just a group of channels for your dial to select from
the receive group is set for a channel to hear what TGs

promiscuous mode is better, you hear all TGs (777) opened up
the other way would let you be selective on which few you want to hear, that 777 opened all up
