Trouble with some talkgroups not connecting
« on: September 17, 2024, 09:27:23 pm »
Hi!
I've used TGIF on and off for some time since the beginning, and I cannot think of a single issue I've had the whole time.  I've got a small problem now ... on the Selfcare page, the window border is orange which means something is not quite right I think ... although bringing up the info window shows everything correctly.  The problem is, when I choose a static talkgroup on the right it will sometimes work, and sometimes just go to 4000.  The ones I discovered that will not let me connect are 31665 and 556.  2021 and 91 work fine and show the correct TG number in the TG button.

I don't know why it would route me to 4000 disconnect on just certain talkgroups?

I am running a Zumspot Hat on a Pi-star and Raspi 4.  I've never had any problems like this with the same setup over the years.

Thanks for this great service ... 73s!

Best Regards,
Steve - WW4AM

The yellow indicates that the device connecting isn't using a secure password. The talkgroups you mentioned all require an authenticated connection with the password generated in the self-care section of the tgif website. That's the first thing to check: That the password generated in self-care matches the one you entered in your device.

WOW thanks!  I had no idea I forgot to enter the password on that hotspot!  I didn't know the Network would work at all without a password!  On PiStar you can't tell if it's been entered because the field always appears blank whether you've entered a password or not.  Anyhow, it turned grey (not orange) on the selfcare page and I can link to everything.

Thanks so much for your help!  I was pulling my hair out :)

73s,
Steve

My pleasure, Steve.  Take care, and please, don't pull out any more hair (or you'll start to look like me!).  We're here to help.

Best Regards,

Joe, WB3IHY
