Using TG 777
« on: April 29, 2019, 12:06:09 pm »
I like this feature to find new TG activity.  The problem I find is certain popular TGs (for good reason) take up a lot of time
not letting me find other active TG.

Is there a way I can use TG 777 but prevent certain TG from stopping the search?

Thanks,
Ken

not at this time

its all or nothing
I use the active talkers to see the TG in use http://tgif.network/active.html
and self care to quickly switch around to listen http://tgif.network/selfcare.html

I tell a lie  ;)
I created this page to bring them to one page

I have a follow up TG 777 question.   When home I can go to "self care" and release my hotspot from SCAN.
When in the car and using my cell phone's personal hotspot to give my MMDVM hotspot Internet, it doesn't appear to
let me release from SCAN. I don't see the choice.  I would have thought both my cell phone and hotspot would share the same IP
address like home.  This becomes a bit of a pain when wanting to release from 777 to make a call on one of the talkgroups
If there is a way to do this when connected to a cell phone please pass along the info.
Anyone else notice this?

I see the same here, that’s why I don’t 777 mobile anymore

I think it’s becuase a phone is not a router
More like a access point device

You might try using a mini mobile router
Like tp link or other like the open spot 1 guys did

Its to bad..   I like listening to the activity in the car.  DMR repeaters in my area are limited coverage when using a HT and
their not very active.

What I believe happens is that the cell phone has multiple interfaces towards the carrier - one for the phone itself, and one that becomes the NAT overloaded address for HotSpot connections.  If you go to a website like 'ifconfig.me' you can see that you get a different IP address depending on whether you're connecting from the phone itself or something joined to the phone by Wifi.

Unfortunately, this isn't something we can correct until we move to a system in which everyone has to login and register their hotspots.  At which point, we can open up the API call to allow you to modify any of your hotspots instead of just the one coming from the same IP.

As for some potential good news, if you've built a hotspot with a usb to ttl adapter, or using one of Rob's 'TGIF' spots, I submitted some code to the team to allow for the ability to disconnect from the hotspot itself.  Since the API call is then coming from the hotspot and not from the browser, it should work in scenarios like this.  So keep an eye out if you've got a nextion screen with bi-directional support.

Is there a timeout on this?

No - None of our talkgroups have timeouts.  You just PTT to the next talkgroup.  If you want to park someplace quiet, 4000 is a transmit-blocked talkgroup you can switch to.
